What does a commercial drip irrigation system include?
A commercial drip system includes a water source and pump set, filtration matched to water quality, a fertigation and dosing unit, mainlines and submains with pressure regulation, dripline or drip tape with emitters spaced to the crop, flushing manifolds, air and check valves, and zone control. On sloping ground, pressure-compensating emitters are required to keep application uniform across the block.

What information is needed to quote a drip irrigation system?
Area and field layout, crop with row and plant spacing, soil type, water source with flow rate and a water analysis, elevation difference to the field, available power at the pump station and the required automation level. Without a water analysis the filtration and treatment scope cannot be priced correctly.
How is drip irrigation combined with fertigation?
Nutrients are injected into the pressurised line downstream of filtration, using Venturi injectors, dosing pumps or a dedicated fertigation head with EC and pH control. The irrigation design has to allow for the injection pressure loss and for flushing the lines after each fertigation cycle.
