Crop input budget calculator: seed and fertilizer cost per hectare
Answer first: input cost per hectare = Σ (application or seeding rate × your unit price), and the total is that figure × planted area. Enter your own agronomic rates and supplier or market prices; the tool supplies none.
Method and assumptions
Each line multiplies your rate per hectare by your price per unit; lines are summed and multiplied by the area. Currency is a label only — no exchange rates, taxes, freight, duties or application costs are added unless you enter them under “Other inputs”. Rates should come from a soil/tissue analysis and agronomist recommendation for your crop and site.
SeedMatchGroup reviews recurring seed and fertilizer supply requests and capital projects from USD 250,000. Buyers submit requirements to us; we review them before deciding whether to approach independent suppliers, and we normalise any bids received. We do not connect buyers directly with suppliers.

Questions
- How is input cost per hectare calculated?
- Multiply each product's rate per hectare by its unit price and add the lines. The total budget is the per-hectare cost multiplied by the planted area.
- Does the calculator include default fertilizer rates or prices?
- No. Rates depend on soil analysis, crop and target yield, and prices change by market and date, so every value is entered by you.
- Can I use this for an RFQ?
- Yes. Use the quantities as the basis of a supply request; SeedMatchGroup reviews the request before any supplier is approached.
