Legume seed markets: sowing-seed trade and crop evidence

Explore commercial legume seed procurement, including soybean, groundnut, peas, beans, lentils and chickpeas. Country trade comparisons currently cover only soybean and groundnut seed for sowing; broader pulse-seed statistics are not available here.

Crop coverage and procurement evidence

  • Soybean and groundnut

Seed-only HS 120110 / 120230 comparisons below. Confirm variety, lot origin, germination, purity and destination requirements separately.

  • Peas and beans

No seed-only global series displayed. Specify species, variety, seed class, quantity and lot evidence; food-pulse trade cannot establish planting-seed demand.

  • Lentils and chickpeas

No seed-only global series displayed. Compare written offers against the same lot specification and destination import requirements, not food commodity prices.

  • Other forage and grain legumes

This page is not an exhaustive legume market dataset. Confirm crop-specific classification and official evidence before using trade totals for a seed procurement decision.

Questions about this data

Which legumes have seed-only trade series here?
Soybean (HS 120110) and groundnut (HS 120230). Both are legumes also classified as oilseeds. These figures overlap the oilseed explorer and must not be added together as separate markets.
Why are peas, beans, lentils and chickpeas not charted?
Global six-digit dried-pulse codes do not consistently separate planting seed from food. We do not relabel these totals as seed trade. Check national tariff subdivisions and lot documentation for the destination.
Is the seed price index a legume price?
No. The USDA NASS series is a US national index of prices paid for seeds, not a global or crop-specific legume quotation. Import unit values are customs averages, not supplier offers.
