Manufacturer, integrator or EPC contractor — who should I buy from?
A manufacturer supplies equipment it makes and warrants that equipment. An integrator combines equipment from several manufacturers into a working system and carries interface responsibility. An EPC contractor takes engineering, procurement and construction responsibility for a defined scope, usually with a single completion obligation and a schedule. The right choice depends on how much interface and completion risk the buyer wants to retain. Whoever is selected, design responsibility must be written into the contract rather than assumed.
What actually drives the answer
Buying equipment packages separately is usually cheaper on paper and transfers integration risk to the buyer.
Ask explicitly who is responsible for the stamped design, who commissions the system, and who is liable if the interfaces fail.
Warranty scope differs sharply: equipment warranty, workmanship warranty and performance obligations are three different things.
Local presence for service and spares is a selection criterion, not a formality, for systems the crop depends on daily.
