Commercial agriculture procurement for Belize: seeds, protected production and irrigation
SeedMatchGroup helps commercial growers, cooperatives and agribusinesses in Belize prepare a specification for seed, planting stock, greenhouse or irrigation projects and receive reviewed supplier offers. We do not sell or import products ourselves, and we do not confirm that any product may enter Belize: plant and plant-product imports are regulated by the Belize Agricultural Health Authority (BAHA), so buyers confirm permit and phytosanitary conditions there before ordering.
Verified market context: the Be-Resilient programme
Resilient Rural Belize (Be-Resilient, GCF project FP101) is a six-year programme financed by the Green Climate Fund, IFAD, the Caribbean Development Bank and beneficiaries (about BZ$40 million), approved in February 2019 and implemented with the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security and Enterprise. It co-finances smallholder investments in climate-resilient vegetable and fruit value chains, including matching grants to producer organizations. This is a public market signal — it shows national investment in climate-resilient production; it is not a tender and not evidence of any specific buyer for SeedMatchGroup services.
Where our product scope fits
- Vegetable and field-crop seed lots for commercial plantings, specified by variety type, quantity and delivery season.
- Protected production (greenhouses, shade structures, hydroponics) for growers moving from open field to controlled environments.
- Drip irrigation and fertigation systems, matching the climate-resilience direction of national programmes.
- Seed processing, nurseries and related infrastructure as separate project scopes.
What counts as an eligible request
- A named product scope (seed lot, greenhouse, irrigation system or infrastructure) with specifications.
- A defined destination, delivery window and importer of record.
- A total project value of at least USD 250,000. Smaller purchases are better served by local distributors.
Import and phytosanitary requirements: confirm with the authority
BAHA administers plant health and import permits in Belize. Requirements depend on species, origin and current pest status, so ask BAHA for the conditions that apply to your exact lot or shipment before suppliers quote.
- Confirm whether an import permit is required for the species and origin.
- Ask which phytosanitary certificate declarations or treatments the permit requires.
- Name the port of entry and arrange inspection where required.
How the request moves
You describe the project in the RFQ; a sourcing specialist reviews the specification and destination conditions you have confirmed; qualified suppliers respond with offers; you compare and decide. SeedMatchGroup reviews project requests from USD 250,000 in total value. Buyers use the service free of charge; qualified suppliers pay. Supplier identities stay confidential until a reviewed introduction.
