Cherry origins with China access: status, entry ports and import requirements

Checked: · SeedMatch Group editorial team

A country-by-country view of which origins can export fresh cherries (Prunus avium) to China, where cherries must enter, and what an importer has to have in place. It does not list growers, packhouses or exporters: check registered facilities yourself in China Customs' official lookup.

We never publish supplier names. A listed country does not mean every orchard or packhouse there may export; only facilities registered for China this season can.

Origins on China's fresh-fruit access list

Status as shown in the GACC list of fresh fruits with inspection and quarantine access (translated copy updated 6 October 2026), plus the South Africa protocol status. Seasons are broad: southern-hemisphere origins mainly supply from about October to February; northern-hemisphere origins in their summer.

Check registered orchards and packhouses yourself

China Customs publishes the overseas facilities registered for each fruit and origin. Ask any offer for its orchard and packhouse registration numbers, then match them in the official lookup before you sign.

Entry ports: designated supervision sites

  • Imported fruit must enter China through a port or airport that GACC has approved as a designated supervision site for imported fruit. The list changes; check the official lookup for the site you plan to use.
  • Example from China Customs (Ningbo, 29 Sep 2026): in Zhejiang, the approved sites include Yiwu airport, Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport, Ningbo Lishe International Airport and the Ningbo Meishan, Zhoushan Shenjiamen, Wenzhou Zhuangyuan'ao, Taizhou Damaiyu and Jiaxing Zhapu port areas.
  • The first Chilean air-freight cherries of the 2026/27 season arrived at Shanghai Pudong airport on 18 October 2026.
