Which documents should accompany a commercial seed lot?
Expect, at lot level: a seed analysis report covering germination, analytical purity and moisture (ISTA methods, and an ISTA Orange Certificate where the lot moves internationally under that scheme); varietal certification documents where the OECD Seed Schemes apply; a treatment declaration naming the active substance; the lot number, origin and packing specification; a commercial invoice and packing list; and a phytosanitary certificate issued by the exporting country's plant protection organisation. The destination authority sets which of these are mandatory for that species and route.
What actually drives the answer
Germination results are method- and date-dependent. Check the test date and the method stated on the report, not only the percentage.
Treatment declarations matter for import acceptance: some active substances are not permitted in some destinations.
Keep the lot number as the linking key across invoice, analysis, phytosanitary certificate and physical labels — mismatches are a common clearance delay.
Retain a sample from the delivered lot; it is the only practical basis for a later quality discussion.
