Türkiye: greenhouse CAPEX, irrigation and fertilizer — buyer planning guide
Prepare a supplier-ready request for a Turkish protected-cultivation project — coastal plastic multi-span, heated glass or geothermal complexes. This guide organises the three cost blocks buyers must specify — structure CAPEX, irrigation and fertigation, and the fertilizer programme — using the units Turkish engineers and suppliers work in. It publishes no prices: every figure is your input, confirmed by dated quotations.
Planning structure only — no published prices, no engineering approval, and no financing, yield or ROI promise. Every figure is a buyer input confirmed by dated supplier quotations.
Units and currency
Units used below: hectares (ha), square metres (m²), litres per m² per day (L/m²/day), cubic metres (m³), kilograms per hectare (kg/ha) and millimetres (mm) — the conventions used by Turkish greenhouse engineers and agronomists (1 dekar = 1,000 m² = 0.1 ha; state hectares in your RFQ to avoid ambiguity).
Turkish suppliers quote in TRY, USD or EUR; exported steel, glass and climate equipment is usually hard-currency linked while labour and civil works are TRY. SeedMatchGroup publishes no exchange rates — state your preferred quote currency in the RFQ and ask each supplier to date and fix their conversion and indexation basis.
1 — Greenhouse CAPEX structure
Break the structure budget into line items so quotations are comparable — especially the heating package, which separates coastal from inland projects. The indicative per-hectare ranges published on our Türkiye greenhouse page remain the only figures we state.
Indicative planning ranges already published for Türkiye: USD 400,000–800,000 per hectare for plastic multi-span and USD 850,000–1.5M per hectare for heated glass or double-poly — before land, heat source and water works. Planning ranges only, never quotations.
| Line item | What to specify | Your figure |
|---|---|---|
| Structure & covering | Plastic multi-span vs glass/double-poly, gutter height, snow and wind loads for your province | Buyer input |
| Heating package | Geothermal resource (licensed, within economic distance) vs gas/biomass boiler, buffer tank, pipe-rail distribution | Buyer input |
| Thermal & shade screens | Single or twin thermal screens for night heat loss; movable shade for summer | Buyer input |
| Cooling & ventilation | Roof vent automation, high-pressure fogging for coastal summer peaks | Buyer input |
| Growing system | Substrate or hydroponic gutters for tomato, cucumber, pepper, strawberry | Buyer input |
| Irrigation & fertigation plant | Pump station, filtration, EC/pH dosing, drain recovery (see irrigation block) | Buyer input |
| Climate automation | Climate computer, sensors, integration with heating and vents | Buyer input |
| Contingency & erection | Erection supervision, grid connection, 5–10% contingency | Buyer input |
2 — Irrigation and fertigation
Coastal wells face salinity intrusion and inland sites depend on regulated water, so Turkish irrigation design is driven by source quality and recirculation. Specify the duty so suppliers quote the same system.
| Line item | What to specify | Your figure |
|---|---|---|
| Design duty | Average and peak demand in L/m²/day (published planning figures: ~4.2 average, ~6.8 peak); gross annual m³ for your area | Buyer input |
| Source & quality | Well, channel or municipal; water analysis including EC and chlorides before filtration design | Buyer input |
| Storage | Tank or reservoir volume in m³ covering peak-day demand plus reserve | Buyer input |
| Filtration & treatment | Sand/disc filtration; treatment where salinity or bicarbonates require it | Buyer input |
| Fertigation & recirculation | Dosing channels, EC/pH control, drain recovery (recirculation can cut net intake 30–40% per published planning figures) | Buyer input |
| Distribution | Drip line spacing, emitter flow (L/h), sector valves and pressure regulation per block | Buyer input |
3 — Fertilizer programme
Plan the fertilizer programme in kg/ha per crop cycle, by source (fertigation vs soil-applied). Turkish fertilizer prices move with import parity and the TRY — obtain dated local quotes rather than relying on any published index.
| Line item | What to specify | Your figure |
|---|---|---|
| Crop demand | N, P₂O₅, K₂O and micronutrient demand in kg/ha per cycle, from your agronomist's recommendation | Buyer input |
| Fertigation share | Percentage delivered through drip vs base dressing; soluble grades required | Buyer input |
| Supply format | Bagged vs bulk, delivery frequency, on-farm storage in tonnes | Buyer input |
| Water compatibility | Water analysis (pH, bicarbonates, EC, chlorides) checked against the planned fertilizer recipe | Buyer input |
| Season timing | Purchase windows aligned to the export production calendar; price validity period in each quote | Buyer input |

Frequently asked questions
What does a commercial greenhouse cost per hectare in Türkiye?
The only figures we publish are indicative planning ranges: USD 400,000–800,000 per hectare for plastic multi-span and USD 850,000–1.5M for heated glass or double-poly, before land, heat source and water works. Your actual CAPEX is the sum of dated supplier quotations for the line items above.
Should I request quotes in TRY, USD or EUR?
State your preference in the RFQ. Turkish suppliers quote in TRY, USD or EUR depending on imported content; ask each supplier to date their price and fix the conversion and indexation basis so quotations stay comparable.
How much irrigation water does a Turkish greenhouse need?
Planning figures already published for Türkiye: about 4.2 L/m²/day average and up to 6.8 L/m²/day peak — roughly 140,000 m³/year gross for 10 ha. Recirculation can reduce net intake by 30–40%, which matters where coastal wells face salinity intrusion.
Where do I get reliable Turkish fertilizer prices?
From dated local supplier quotes and official sources such as the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and TÜİK. We do not publish fertilizer prices, and no published index substitutes for a dated quote in your province.
What is the minimum project size for SeedMatchGroup's managed RFQ?
USD 250,000 total project value. Below that, your request stays a private draft and is not routed to suppliers.
