1. Is SeedMatch a greenhouse builder?
No — SeedMatch Group is not a greenhouse builder. SeedMatch Group is an independent agricultural project sourcing and RFQ platform: it reviews commercial project briefs and requests comparable options from independent greenhouse manufacturers, integrators and contractors. It does not design structures, pour foundations, erect greenhouses or act as an EPC contractor, and construction contracts are signed directly between the project owner and the chosen supplier.
2. Is SeedMatch a fertilizer manufacturer?
No — SeedMatch Group does not manufacture, blend or sell fertilizers, including water-soluble fertigation grades and specialty products. SeedMatch Group is an independent sourcing and RFQ platform: it helps a project define its fertigation and crop-nutrition requirement, then routes that specification to independent fertilizer suppliers for quotation. Product recommendations remain the responsibility of the supplier and the project's agronomist.
3. Is SeedMatch an irrigation supplier?
No — SeedMatch Group does not manufacture, sell or install drip lines, filtration, pump stations, fertigation head units or water-treatment equipment. SeedMatch Group is an independent project sourcing and RFQ platform: it reviews a project's water source, flow, pressure and irrigation requirements and approaches suitable independent irrigation suppliers on the project owner's behalf, after the brief has been reviewed.
4. Can SeedMatch compare greenhouse suppliers?
Yes — comparing supplier options is what SeedMatch Group does. SeedMatch Group normalises a project's scope, technical requirements and budget band into a single written brief, approaches suitable independent suppliers, and structures their responses so scope, exclusions, delivery terms and pricing can be read side by side. SeedMatch Group does not guarantee that any specific supplier will respond, and the project owner selects and contracts the supplier directly.
5. What details are needed for a greenhouse quote?
A greenhouse supplier needs, at minimum: site coordinates and local climate data (including design wind and snow loads), a recent water analysis and the water source's annual availability, the target crop and production system, the project area, the scope boundary — supply-only, installed, or turnkey including civil works — the intended level of climate control and automation, grid or fuel availability, permitting status, and an honest budget band. Briefs missing any of these usually produce quotes that cannot be compared.
6. How much does a commercial greenhouse cost?
Commercial greenhouse capital cost per hectare varies by a factor of thirty or more between a simple net house and a fully closed, climate-controlled facility, so any single figure is misleading without a specification. The cost is set by technology tier, design climate and structural loads, water treatment, automation depth, lighting, and whether the price is supply-only or installed and commissioned. Use a CAPEX estimator to bracket an indicative range before approaching suppliers; final numbers require supplier, agronomist, engineer and local regulatory review.
7. What affects greenhouse CAPEX?
Greenhouse CAPEX is driven by six variables: technology tier (net house, tunnel, multi-chapel, Venlo glass or fully closed CEA); design climate and structural loads; water source treatment requirements; automation and climate-control depth, including supplemental lighting; the scope boundary between supply-only and installed and commissioned; and landed cost items such as freight, duties, local civil works and installation labour. Site conditions and phasing around an operating crop can add materially to all of them.
8. What affects greenhouse OPEX?
Greenhouse operating cost is driven mainly by energy for heating, cooling, dehumidification and lighting; labour intensity and local wage levels; water and fertilizer consumption; crop protection inputs; CO2 supply where used; and maintenance of climate, irrigation and automation equipment. Climate severity raises OPEX, while automation depth can lower labour and energy use at the cost of higher CAPEX and a higher skill requirement.
9. What affects greenhouse energy cost?
Greenhouse energy cost depends on the design climate and the resulting heating or cooling load, the insulation value of the structure and cladding, the presence and number of energy screens, whether supplemental lighting is used and for how many hours, local electricity and fuel tariffs including demand charges, and how well the climate strategy is automated so heating and cooling do not run against each other. Energy is typically the largest single OPEX line in cold or hot climates.
10. What affects fertigation system cost?
Fertigation system cost is driven by source-water quality and the treatment it requires (filtration, acid dosing, softening, iron removal or reverse osmosis), the system's flow rate and number of irrigation zones, the level of control — manual dosing versus EC/pH-regulated proportional injection — the number of stock tanks and channels, and whether the system is open drain-to-waste or closed-loop with drain collection, disinfection and reuse. Closed-loop systems cost more upfront and reduce water and fertilizer consumption.
11. What is the difference between hydroponic and soil greenhouse production?
Soil greenhouse production grows in the native or amended ground: lower capital cost, simpler operation, but limited control over root-zone moisture, nutrition and soil-borne disease. Hydroponic and substrate production isolates the root zone in rockwool, coco, perlite or nutrient solution: tighter control of water and nutrients, higher and more consistent yields per square metre, and the option of drain recirculation — at higher capital and operating cost, a higher skill requirement, and less tolerance of irrigation or power failure.
12. Can SeedMatch help with water-soluble fertilizers?
Yes, in a sourcing capacity only. SeedMatch Group does not manufacture or sell water-soluble or specialty fertilizers; it reviews a project's fertigation and crop-nutrition requirement — crop, growth stages, water analysis, target EC and pH, and volumes — and routes that specification to independent fertilizer suppliers for quotation. Nutrient recommendations remain with the project's agronomist and the supplying manufacturer.
13. Can SeedMatch help with smart greenhouse automation?
Yes, in the same independent sourcing capacity as other equipment categories. SeedMatch Group reviews the automation requirement — climate computers, sensors, irrigation and fertigation control, data logging and remote access — and requests comparable options from independent equipment suppliers and system integrators. SeedMatch Group does not manufacture, install, commission or support automation hardware or software.
14. Can SeedMatch support USD 250,000+ projects?
Yes. SeedMatch Group works with commercial agricultural projects from USD 250,000 upwards, including greenhouse construction and modernization, hydroponic facilities, irrigation and fertigation systems, climate control, automation and turnkey protected-agriculture projects. Hobby, home-gardening and sub-threshold enquiries are outside scope. Every brief is reviewed before any supplier is approached.
15. Does SeedMatch provide financing?
No — SeedMatch Group does not provide loans, leasing, grants, guarantees or any form of regulated finance, and does not give financial advice or promise financing approval. Financing is arranged by the project owner directly with lenders, lessors or investors. SeedMatch Group can help structure the technical and cost documentation a lender is likely to ask for, but takes no part in credit decisions.
16. Why does SeedMatch review the project before contacting suppliers?
Because unreviewed briefs produce non-comparable quotes. Reviewing first normalises scope, technical assumptions and budget so every approached supplier prices the same requirement, and it surfaces gaps — a missing water analysis, undefined civil interface, unrealistic timeline or unstated budget — before they become change orders or disputes. SeedMatch Group makes no automatic buyer-supplier introductions; suppliers are approached only after that internal review.
