Market Entry & Trade Pathways

Market entry and trade pathways: okra seed to Israel, South African fruit to China, fertilizers to Kenya

Sources reviewed: · SeedMatch Group editorial team

Trade-promotion agencies help exporters with market intelligence, readiness checklists and buyer introductions. This page applies those steps to four routes SeedMatch Group supports for commercial programmes: seeds, fresh fruit and fertilizers. Each route card states what a cited official source confirms, where a further approval or registration is indicated, and what still needs verification.

Short answer (status on 26 October 2026)

Okra seed from India may enter Israel under the conditions in an APEDA circular of 8 April 2026. South African stone fruit has traded to China since February 2026. South African cherries have a protocol and GACC Announcement No. 140 of 2026, but facility registration and China's final confirmation were still awaited. Fertilizer imports into Kenya are limited by law to approved fertilizers.

  • Okra seed → Israel: officially confirmed for the species. Variety approval, the importer's permit and shipment documents are additional steps.
  • Stone fruit → China: officially confirmed for apricots, peaches, nectarines, plums and European plums from registered facilities; registration is seasonal.
  • Cherries → China: conditions published; registered-facility list and final confirmation not yet seen. No commercial shipment verified.
  • Fertilizers → Kenya: only approved fertilizers may be imported (Cap. 345, s. 3). Whether a given product qualifies, and whether KEBS pre-export verification applies, must be confirmed.

SeedMatch Group is a commercial coordinator. It is not a government agency, regulator, exporter, importer or certifier, and it has no partnership with, or endorsement from, APEDA, PPIS, GACC, South Africa's Department of Agriculture, KEBS or Kenya's fertilizer board. Nothing here grants permission to trade. Producers, exporters and importers remain responsible for their own permits, registrations, certificates and compliance under applicable law. This is market intelligence, not legal, regulatory or customs advice.

How the service works

Four steps, modelled on how trade-promotion agencies support exporters, with a human review at each step.

  1. 1. Route intelligence

Each product–origin–destination route is checked against official texts first, then trade reports. Every source is dated.

  2. 2. Exporter readiness

Exporters record, item by item, which registrations, identity documents, certificates and lot data they hold. The page lists the open gaps.

  3. 3. Buyer RFQ

Commercial buyers state product and variety, quantity, timing, origin, destination, documents, certifications, packaging, shipping and payment preferences. Buyer access is free; programmes start from USD 250,000.

  4. 4. Reviewed coordination

A sourcing specialist compares the buyer's request with documented readiness. Any introduction goes through SeedMatch Group after review; nothing is matched automatically and no direct contact details are exchanged.

Fresh-fruit purchases are coordinated through Global B2B Group, SeedMatch Group's parent group and buyer-first marketplace. Global B2B Group

Status labels: “Officially confirmed” means the cited official source states it. “Additional approval or registration indicated” means an official source shows a further step that must be completed. “Needs verification” means the sources reviewed do not settle it.

Frequently asked questions

What is SeedMatch Group's Market Entry & Trade Pathways service?

A route-by-route service for commercial programmes, modelled on trade-promotion agencies: dated route intelligence, an exporter readiness checklist, a buyer RFQ and human-reviewed coordination. It covers okra seed from India to Israel, South African cherries and stone fruit to China, and fertilizers to Kenya. SeedMatch Group is a commercial coordinator, not a government agency, regulator, exporter or certifier.

Can okra seed be exported from India to Israel?

Officially confirmed for the species: APEDA's circular APEDA-FFV/28/2026-FFV of 8 April 2026 states that Israel granted market access for okra seed from India, with an Israeli import permit and a phytosanitary certificate declaring the seed tested free from Fusarium oxysporum f.sp. vasinfectum and Okra enation leaf curl virus. Variety approval and the importer's permit are additional steps.

Can South African cherries be shipped to China now?

Not confirmed. The protocol was signed on 8 September 2026 and GACC Announcement No. 140 of 2026 sets the conditions, but as of 26 October 2026 no registered cherry facility list had been found and China's final confirmation was reported pending. No commercial shipment was verified.

Which South African stone fruits may be exported to China?

Fresh apricots, peaches, nectarines, plums and European plums, under the protocol of 15 October 2025 and GACC Announcement No. 222 of 2025, from facilities on the current-season GACC list. The 2026/27 list was not found in this review.

Which fertilizers can be imported into Kenya?

Only fertilizers declared approved under the Fertilizers and Animal Foodstuffs Act (Cap. 345, s. 3); the approved designations are in Legal Notice 209 of 1972. Animal-derived content needs an origin certificate (s. 4). Importer licensing and KEBS PVoC coverage were not confirmed in this review.

Does SeedMatch Group verify suppliers or guarantee deals?

No. Readiness profiles are applicant-declared until staff check documents, and that check is not a certification. There are no guaranteed introductions, prices, volumes or deals, and no partnership with the agencies cited.

Can SeedMatch Group arrange export credit insurance or finance?

No. The page lists state export credit agencies as referral information only. Eligibility, cover and terms are decided by each agency or lender.
