How much soybean seed do you need per hectare?
Soybean seed rate is calculated as target plants per hectare divided by germination and field-establishment factors, multiplied by thousand seed weight. With 30 plants/m², 90% germination, 10% field loss and a TSW of 160 g, the calculator returns kg/ha, total seed volume, projected yield, gross revenue and crushable oil output.
- Formula: seed rate (kg/ha) = seeds/ha × TSW (160 g) ÷ 1,000,000.
- Typical density used here: 30 plants/m² on 45 cm rows.
- Reference yield 3.2 t/ha at about US$420/t.
- Oil content assumption 20% — oil output = yield × oil content.
