Drip Irrigation & Fertigation in Cabo Verde — Rega gota-a-gota e fertirrega
On Santiago, Santo Antão, Fogo and São Vicente, water is the limiting input. Greenhouse growers plan drip (rega gota-a-gota) and fertigation (fertirrega) around desalinated, borehole or recovered water, storage and wind-exposed sites.
Can I run drip on desalinated water?
Yes, but state the water analysis in the brief. Desalinated water is often low in calcium and magnesium, which the fertigation recipe has to supply. We have not confirmed a dated FAO national yield series for Cabo Verde tomato, cucumber or pepper, so we don't show one.

Typical design envelope
Reference parameters used to open the RFQ. Final values are sized by our engineers against source-water, soil and crop stage.
System components
Pressure-compensated lines for soil beds, or stakes for substrate, set by crop and row layout.
Dosing channels, mixing and EC/pH sensors, matched to the number of irrigation valves.
Selected from your water analysis — disc, screen or sand media.
Tank and pump sized to peak-day demand and the gaps in water supply.
Scheduling by timer or radiation, with drain measurement on substrate.
Why drip for tomato, cucumber and pepper in Cabo Verde
- Water and nutrients go to each plant, which matters where every cubic metre is produced or bought.
- One request can cover driplines, fertigation, filtration, storage, pumping and controls.
- Offers are compared on the same scope; the specification is supplier-neutral.

Buyer path
From your Cabo Verde site to one drip and fertigation request
- 1 · Define
Crop and site details
State the island (Santiago, Santo Antão, Fogo, São Vicente…), crop, water source — desalinated, borehole or recovered water — with its analysis, storage volume, wind exposure and whether solar power is planned.
- 2 · Calculate
Size the critical systems
Use the focused tools below. Results are planning estimates, not engineering designs or supplier quotations.
- 3 · Request
Create one reviewed brief
Add the figures to a private project request. A sourcing specialist reviews it before any relevant supplier is approached.
