HEATING

Greenhouse heating systems for commercial production

Heating is usually the largest operating cost in a cold-season greenhouse, and it is decided at design stage. Source pipe-rail, air heating, boilers, heat pumps, buffer storage and screening sized from a heat-loss calculation for your site.

SeedMatchGroup helps buyers source greenhouse equipment, agricultural seeds, fertilizers, irrigation systems, pumps, solar systems, drones, cooling systems and complete agriculture project suppliers worldwide.

SeedMatchGroup is supplier-neutral and helps buyers compare greenhouse, seed, fertilizer, irrigation and agriculture project suppliers worldwide. It does not manufacture, distribute or sell equipment or inputs.

How is a greenhouse heating system sized?

A greenhouse heating system is sized from a heat-loss calculation: the covered area and envelope, the U-value of the cladding and screens, the coldest design temperature and wind exposure at the site, and the minimum night temperature the crop requires. That produces a peak heat demand in kW and an annual energy demand, which then determine the emission system — pipe rail, air heaters or a combination — the heat source, the buffer capacity and the fuel or electricity cost the project must carry each year.

Product and supplier categories

Pipe-rail heating

Hot-water rail and growing pipes, mixing groups, pumps and zone valves.

Air heating

Direct and indirect air heaters, distribution ducting and circulation.

Heat sources

Gas, biomass and electric boilers, heat pumps, CHP and waste-heat recovery.

Buffer & distribution

Buffer tanks, insulated distribution, expansion and safety equipment.

Energy screens

Single and double screen packages that cut night heat loss before capacity is sized.

Controls

Climate-computer integration, zone control, minimum-pipe strategies and logging.

Who buys through this route

  • Cold and continental-climate producers running winter crops
  • Highland projects with wide day-night temperature swings
  • Growers replacing ageing boilers or converting fuel
  • Investors testing whether year-round production is economic

Typical use cases

  • Extending production into winter with a defined minimum night temperature
  • Cutting energy cost with screens before enlarging heating capacity
  • Converting from fossil fuel to heat pumps or biomass
  • Adding buffer storage to smooth peak demand and fuel purchasing

Regions served

  • Sub-Saharan and North Africa — Kenya, Nigeria, Ghana, Ethiopia, Morocco, Egypt
  • Middle East and the Gulf — UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman, Jordan
  • Central and South-East Asia — Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Thailand, Vietnam, Philippines
  • Latin America — Mexico, Colombia, Peru, Chile, Brazil
  • Mediterranean and Eastern Europe — Spain, Turkey, Greece, Romania, Azerbaijan

Why buyers use SeedMatchGroup

  • Heating capacity requested against a stated design temperature, not a rule of thumb.
  • Screens and envelope reviewed before heating capacity is increased.
  • Annual energy demand and cost raised at specification stage, not after commissioning.
  • Linked to heating-load and operating-cost calculators before you tender.

Source greenhouses suppliers with one structured request

Share scope, country, volume or capacity and timeline. A sourcing specialist reviews your brief before any supplier is contacted, and supplier identities stay private.

Prefilled from: Started from Greenhouse heating systems for commercial production — you can edit any field before submitting.. Review each field and adjust before submitting.

A few words is enough. The Brief Assistant will expand it into a clear sourcing brief.

The more context you share, the sharper our sourcing shortlist. Nothing is shared with suppliers.

Select every package you want included. Anything left unselected is treated as outside the scope, and we will flag it as a possible gap between suppliers. This is equipment and works only — recurring fertilizer supply is requested separately.
