What is the difference between NPK and organic fertilizers?
Mineral NPK supplies nutrients in immediately plant-available form at a known, guaranteed analysis, so uptake is fast and dosing is precise. Organic fertilizers supply nutrients bound in organic matter that must be mineralised by soil biology, so release is slower, analysis is lower and more variable, and application rates are higher — but they also build soil organic matter, structure and biological activity over time. Many commercial operations use both: organics for soil building and mineral or soluble grades for in-season precision.

Because nutrient concentration is lower and release depends on mineralisation by soil biology, which is temperature and moisture dependent. Planning must account for both the higher tonnage and the delay between application and availability.
In conventional and integrated systems, yes, and it is common. In certified organic production, only inputs permitted by the certifier may be used, which excludes most synthetic mineral fertilizers.
Liquid organics formulated for fertigation can, but filtration, residue and biological growth in lines must be managed. Product-specific compatibility with the irrigation system should be confirmed before purchase.
No. It is not a certification body and issues no organic claims of its own. It requests certification documentation from suppliers so the buyer and their certifier can verify it.
Ask the supplier to state in the offer: the fish species and country of the raw material; whether it comes from whole fish or from processing by-products such as trimmings; the manufacturing site; and a lot number that links each delivery to its certificate of analysis. If a chain-of-custody certificate is claimed (for example under MarinTrust, a marine-ingredients scheme whose Chain of Custody Standard v2.1 took effect on 1 May 2026), check the certificate number, holder, site and product scope with the issuing scheme. Organic acceptance still depends on your own certifier.
