Reducing agricultural risk through seed testing

Independent germination, purity and vigour testing — combined with local field trials — is how distributors and commercial growers de-risk inbound seed lots.

When a single seed lot drives an entire season's planting, the cost of a quality failure compounds rapidly: lost yield, replanting cost, missed market window, and broken commitments to off-takers.

Two layers of testing

Layer one: ISTA / OECD seed-lot analysis on the commercial lot before shipping (germination, purity, moisture, vigour). Layer two: a local field trial on a sample lot to verify varietal performance in your conditions.

When to insist on independent re-testing

On high-value orders (six figures and above), buyers often request third-party seed-lab re-testing in addition to the breeder's certificate. The cost is small relative to the downside it removes.

How SeedMatchGroup helps
