Agricultural Energy & Backup Systems
Vendor-neutral hub for agricultural energy: diesel and gas generators, hybrid solar-diesel, battery storage, solar backup, ATS, UPS and smart energy management — engineered for greenhouses, irrigation, solar irrigation, hydroponics, vertical farming, water pumps, reservoirs, climate control and agricultural automation.
SeedMatchGroup specifies generators, batteries, ATS, UPS and EMS inside the buyer's RFQ; we do not resell energy equipment directly. All commercial terms are handled privately.
Generators
Prime, standby and emergency generation — sized to load profile, starting inrush, altitude and ambient temperature.
10–2,000 kVA diesel gensets for greenhouses, pack-houses, pump stations and remote sites. Tier-appropriate emissions to local regulation.
Pipeline-gas and on-farm biogas gensets for continuous-run, lower-emission projects.
Solar + battery + generator on one controller — the modern default for irrigation, cooling and fertigation.
Storage, solar backup & switchgear
Lithium iron phosphate storage sized to critical-load runtime, with 8–15 year design life and safer thermal behaviour.
PV + battery backup for greenhouses, irrigation controllers, cold rooms and remote sensor networks.
Automatic grid-to-genset transfer in 8–15 seconds — the only way to guarantee unattended restart on protected-agriculture sites.
Online double-conversion UPS to bridge the ATS transfer window and protect climate computers, controllers and network switches.
Load-shedding, peak-shaving, generator-battery-grid arbitration and remote dashboards on a single controller.
Bunded day-tanks, bulk fuel storage and fuel-polishing systems for prime-power sites in remote agriculture.

FAQ
- How is a generator sized for a commercial greenhouse or irrigation system?
- Sizing starts with the largest single motor start (typically a fogging pump, chiller compressor or irrigation booster) and the continuous running load. Motor starting current is 4–7× nameplate for direct-on-line motors and 1.5–2× for VFD-driven motors, so the genset kVA must cover the worst-case inrush without voltage collapse. Add 20–30% headroom for future expansion, correct for altitude (derate ~1% per 100 m above 1,000 m) and ambient temperature (derate ~2% per °C above 40 °C). For a 1 ha high-tech greenhouse the emergency backup genset is usually 50–150 kVA; for a full-project (climate + fertigation + LEDs) prime power is often 250–500 kVA. Use our Generator Sizing Calculator for a first pass and open the RFQ for engineered quotes.
- Diesel, gas or hybrid — which is best for a farm?
- Diesel is the fastest-starting, most fuel-dense and easiest to service globally — still the default for emergency backup in remote agriculture. Natural-gas and biogas gensets have lower fuel cost where pipeline gas or on-farm biogas exists, plus lower emissions and no fuel-storage risk. Hybrid solar + battery + generator is the modern default for daytime-heavy loads (irrigation, cooling, fertigation): solar covers the day, battery covers the transition, the generator only starts on demand. Payback for hybrid is usually 3–5 years against pure-diesel prime power. The RFQ Builder captures load profile, fuel availability and outage risk so proposals are comparable.
- What is an ATS and does a farm really need one?
- An Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS) monitors grid voltage and, on outage, disconnects the load from the grid and starts the generator — typically restoring power in 8–15 seconds. On a commercial greenhouse an outage during a heatwave or a fogging cycle can kill a crop in under an hour, and an ATS is the only way to guarantee unattended restart. Add a UPS between the ATS and the climate computer to bridge the 10-second gap so controls, alarms and network stay up continuously. On any critical protected-agriculture project, ATS + UPS + genset is a single specification, not three separate purchases.
- How is battery storage sized for a greenhouse or off-grid pump?
- By critical-load runtime, not by kWh price. List every load that must survive an outage (climate computer, HAF fans, humidity control, alarms, ventilation motors, pump control), sum the kW, multiply by required runtime (hours), and add 20% for round-trip losses and depth-of-discharge margin. LFP (lithium iron phosphate) is the default for agriculture: 8–15 year design life, safer thermal behaviour and no cobalt supply-chain risk. For solar backup on irrigation, size batteries so the pump can run a full watering window even on the worst design day of the year.
- Are these systems eligible for green financing?
- Yes. Hybrid solar + battery + generator projects, and standalone battery/solar backup on agricultural infrastructure, are eligible under most green trade finance and project finance products from development banks and specialist lenders. Bankability improves with a proper energy model (load profile, kWh/kWp by month, generator fuel curve) and vendor-neutral EPC selection — which is exactly what our RFQ Builder produces.
- Does SeedMatchGroup sell generators, batteries or ATS?
- No. SeedMatchGroup is a human-led global sourcing platform supported by proprietary technology. Generators, batteries, inverters, ATS, UPS and EMS are specified inside the buyer's RFQ and opened to qualified global manufacturers and integrators. Vendor-neutral, buyer-first.
